About this course

About the Workshop As artificial intelligence becomes deeply integrated into teaching, research, and university administration, the need for ethical, transparent, and responsible AI governance has never been greater. The AI Governance for Higher Education Institutions in Asia Workshop is a five-session virtual program designed to equip university administrators, IT officers, policymakers, and digital transformation managers with the frameworks and tools to guide their institutions toward responsible and accountable AI implementation. Through expert-led discussions, case studies, and project-based activities, participants will collaboratively develop institutional AI Governance Action Plans tailored to their contexts. (Experts and guest speakers will be announced soon.) Workshop Objectives - Strengthen leadership capacity in AI ethics, governance, and regulatory compliance - Develop institutional frameworks for responsible and transparent AI use - Build actionable governance policies and implementation roadmaps - Foster inter-institutional collaboration and sharing of best practices across Asia Workshop Format The workshop consists of five 90 minutes virtual sessions from January to May 2026, followed by a June follow-up session and optional mentorship. > Orientation: 8 January 2026 Session 1: 14 January 2026 – Setting the Stage: Institutional AI Governance Needs Session 2: 4 February 2026 – Ethical AI Use, Bias & Institutional Integrity Session 3: 4 March 2026 – Policy, Regulations & Compliance Strategies Session 4: 1 April 2026 – Governance Structures & Implementation Models Session 5: 7 May 2026 – Action Plan Showcase & Peer Review Each session builds on the previous one, allowing participants to develop and refine their institutional AI governance frameworks progressively. Workshop Highlights 1. Insights from regional and international experts 2. Interactive group learning with real-world case studies 3. Project-centered development of institutional governance frameworks 4. Access to policy templates, case libraries, and ethical guidelines 5. Peer review and personalized feedback 6. Networking opportunities with leaders in AI governance across Asia Participation & Eligibility Limited to 60 participants only Each institution may nominate 2-3 representatives to form a team Open to university leaders, IT officers, policymakers, and digital transformation managers from accredited institutions Preference given to institutions currently implementing or planning AI-related initiatives that require governance oversight Application Details Application Deadline: 10 December 2025 Notification of Acceptance: 20 December 2025 Orientation: 8 January 2026 Applicants must submit: 1. A completed online application form 2. A letter of institutional endorsement 3. CVs of all participating team members (Institutions are encouraged to apply as a group to strengthen internal capacity for AI governance.) Expected Outcomes By the end of the program, participants will: 1. Develop and Institutional AI Governance Action Plan 2. Strengthen institutional capacity for AI policy formulation 3. Gain access to governance templates and ethical guidelines 4. Join a regional peer network for continued collaboration
